We built an AI-powered proof-of-concept that transforms historical coal mining documents into structured research insights, helping the Coal Mining Museum automate discovery and save weeks of manual work.
The museum’s digitization team needed a way to analyze thousands of multilingual historical documents. Researchers struggled to identify recurring themes and manually extract meaningful topics across large archives. The goal was to create a system that automatically detects and describes potential research areas, complete with traceable citations.
In just three weeks, our team delivered an AI-powered topic mining system integrating clustering algorithms and Large Language Models (LLMs) to process and summarize content from multiple languages into Polish.
The solution was built around three key components:
Snowflake for scalable ingestion and preprocessing of unstructured documents.
NLP with vector embeddings and DBSCAN clustering for semantic text grouping.
LLMs generate concise Polish topic summaries with multi-source references.
A Streamlit interface allowed museum researchers to explore the discovered topics interactively and export structured Excel reports for further study.
The system automated what was once a manual, time-intensive process. It enables the museum:
